What is googol?
A googol is a mathematical expression that represents a very large numerical value from 10 to 100, or a factor of 70 (70!). It is written as the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. The google search engine and brand come from the googol term. A googol is also referred to as a ten (10) duotrigine, ten thousand (10,000) sex decillion, and ten (10) sex decilliard.
In an attempt to name a large number with 100 zeros, Googol was coined by Milton Sirotta, the nephew of Edward Kasner, an American mathematician. Although the term does not apply to most mathematical calculations, googol is often used to explain and compare items with very large numeric values, sizes, and quantities.
