What is Beggarware?
Beggarware is a slang term for free software that relies on donations to fund further development. The creator or creators of Beggarware will post a free and functional version and then wait for voluntary donations to justify the effort needed to improve it. Beggarware is often used as a derogatory term for freeware.

Beggarware usually includes a donation request from users who find the software valuable. The success of this approach in funding development is unknown. Some freeware users are no doubt willing to pay for any software, whether by donation or purchase, but probably enough people donate to justify the wide range of bedding available.

Beggarwares' approach of fundraising, rather than pre-billing, has expanded to include website templates, image galleries, desktop wallpapers, and other areas beyond software.
