Complementary carers

Complementary carer is a state-supervised caregiver for a child, ward or their assets that is subject to the law. The supplementary carer looks after the interests of the child or ward if the parents or guardians are prevented from safeguarding their interests. This prevention can occur for factual reasons (e.g. absence) or for legal reasons (e.g. conflicting interests). A supplementary carer must be involved in particular if parents or guardians want to conclude a contract with the child or ward. The supplementary custody ends with the end of parental authority or guardianship.
