What is storage infrastructure?
Speicherinfrastruktur in der IT bezieht sich auf den gesamten Satz von Hardware- und Softwarekomponenten, die benötigt werden, um die Speicherung für ein System zu erleichtern. Dies wird häufig bei Cloud computing angewendet, wo die Cloud-Speicherinfrastruktur aus Hardwareelementen wie Servern sowie aus Softwareelementen wie Betriebssystemen und proprietären Bereitstellungsanwendungen besteht.
Die Cloud-Speicherinfrastruktur und andere Arten von Speicherinfrastruktur können teilweise aufgrund neuer und aufkommender Speichertechnologien stark variieren. Zum Beispiel wird bei der Storage virtualization die Infrastruktur so geändert, dass sie softwaregesteuert als hardwaregesteuert wird.

In a typical storage virtualization environment, a set of physical disks is replaced by a series of "logical drives" or "virtual drives" that are partitioned and operated by software. In general, cloud computing enables vendors to deliver product services over the global Internet, making the storage infrastructure a kind of hybrid design between the hardware that is on-site in the sales offices and the proprietary software for the various types of data transfer.
