Price optics

Price optics is the setting of prices in which the aspect of a visually favorable price is taken into account. This is done in such a way that amounts in excess of ten pfennigs, full marks, one hundred marks, one thousand marks, etc. are waived in the sales prices. Rather, when setting the price, one usually takes a slight discount with the aim of showing a price that is below the limit of the highest full ten pfennigs, marks, one hundred marks, etc. Example: Based on the calculation, a suit would have to cost 301 DM. Taking the R into account, the selling price could be DM 298.
