Input tax account

Das Vorsteuerkonto ist ein aktives Inventory account der Finanzbuchhaltung. Auf diesem Konto wird die Vorsteuer gebucht, welche eine Forderung auf Erstattung gegenüber dem Finanzamt darstellt.

Definition / explanation

value added tax - If a company sells its products, the price is 19% or 7% value added tax contain. the value added tax must be paid to the tax office.

Input tax - If a company purchases goods for production, the price includes 19% input tax, which the company receives from the tax office.

In der Betriebswirtschaftslehre (BWL) werden dafür zwei Konten geführt, das aktive Vorsteuerkonto und das passive VAT account. Um das Vorsteuerkonto abzuschließen, wird der Gesamtbetrag auf das Umsatzsteuerkonto gebucht.

If the input tax is higher than the sales tax, there is an input tax surplus and the money is repaid by the tax office. In most cases, however, the sales tax is higher than the input tax and there is a payment burden to the tax office.
