Population policy

The term population policy is understood to mean all government measures to influence the number and / or composition of a population. This includes family policy measures such as child benefit, housing allowance for family-friendly apartments, but also measures for immigration and emigration.

In many developing countries, population policies aim to reduce population growth through active birth control. In industrialized countries, on the other hand, population policy tried to create incentives to increase the birth rate through tax relief or the payment of child and parental allowances. The reason for this is the declining birth rate in industrialized countries.
