What is nagware?
Nagware is a software utility that encourages users to upgrade or purchase a premium version of software by sending pop-up messages or notifications. Software developers use Nagware as a marketing tactic to remind users to take advantage of special offers and purchase software.
Nagware is also known as begware, annoyware, nagscreen and guiltware.
Nagware is generally part of a freeware or software utility and works after a predefined time or an event set in the software. For example, after the Nagware trial date has expired, users will be continually reminded to purchase or update the software and / or license. The popup or nagscreen is displayed when the user opens the software or starts the system - or cyclically after a predefined time. To avoid Nagware, a user must purchase, update, or completely uninstall the software.
