What is the lightweight protocol?
The lightweight protocol refers to any protocol that has a lower and leaner payload when used and transmitted over a network connection. It's easier, faster, and easier to manage than others Communication protocolsthat are used in a local network or a WAN.

The lightweight protocol usually offers the same or enhanced services as its heavier counterpart, but takes up less space in several ways. Lightweight Protocols work faster than standard protocols. They tend to have a smaller overall size, leave out nonessential data, and use a data compression technique to have less impact on network communications. For example, the TCP / IP protocol stack is considered to be lighter and much faster than the OSI protocol stack. Lightweight Directory Access Protocols (LDAP), LEAP (Lightweight Extensible Authentication Protocol), and SCCP (Skinny Call Control Protocol) are some popular examples of lightweight protocols.
