The investment tax is one of the abolished taxes. It was only collected from May 9, 1973 to November 30, 1973. It had the economic policy goal of stabilizing the economy (steering tax). The tax revenue was set aside as a cyclical adjustment reserve at the Bundesbank. The tax revenue was released at the end of 1974 to encourage investment.
