G.722

What is G.722?
G.722 is an ITU standard for telecommunications standardization (ITU-T) that was approved in 1988. It operates at 48, 56 and 64 Kbit / s using a codec technology based on a sub-band of adaptive differential pulse code modulation (ADPCM). The G.722 samples audio data at a speed of 16 KHz, twice as fast as conventional telephone interfaces. This results in excellent clarity and audio quality.

Other ITU-T broadband codecs include G.722.1 and G.722.2. They use various patented compression technologies.

G.722 describes the characteristics of the broadband audio coding system used for a wide variety of high quality voice applications, including a high quality Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The entire coding system uses sub-band adaptive differential pulse code modulation with bit rates of 64 Kbps and is referred to as 64 Kbps audio coding.

G.722 wird hauptsächlich in VoIP verwendet, z.
