Domestic sales are the result of the distribution process within a country's geographic borders, regardless of whether the buyers are residents or foreigners. Domestic sales therefore also include sales to foreigners in Germany (e.g. guest workers, tourists, armed forces).
Accordingly, the quantities of goods that are bought by residents abroad do not count towards domestic sales. Due to the international integration of the sales markets, a distinction must be made between domestic sales and domestic sales:
Domestic sales = purchases by residents abroad - purchases by non-residents in Germany
There are various methods (sales measurement) to determine domestic and domestic sales.
