What is core router?
A core router is a computer communication system and a backbone of the network, that is, the device that connects all network devices. It offers several fast data communication interfaces. The word 'core' refers to the entire physical structure of a network.
In the 1980s, Cisco was the largest provider of core routers. Internet services expanded rapidly in early 2001, but the high cost of network infrastructure and equipment prevented vendors from offering new solutions. Core routers were bought by some companies at a high cost; other companies have simply left the information technology (IT) market. Finally, Cisco offered core routers in large numbers at reduced costs.
