What is Computer Aided Origami?
Computerized origami is the set of tools and techniques used to model various materials and paper fold designs on a computer. Computational Origami explains how a three-dimensional origami structure can be created from two-dimensional paper using several algorithms.
The algorithm used in computer-aided design tools for origami is very sophisticated and finds its application in engineering and other visual applications. Airbag design, machine folding, and protein folding are some of the uses for computer origami.
A mathematician named Humaki Huzita developed a sequence of six complex origami properties in order of increasing complexity. They explain the relationship between two points connected in a single line fold and how four points can be connected on a flat surface.
The main application of computer origami is influenced by the folding of processors, which is used to increase the data capacity of a processor and reduce space so that more processors can fit in the same space.
However, computer origami has some drawbacks and limitations. When simple, fine grain processors are used, a lot of hardware is required to implement the design for those processors. It also creates long queues when running complex programs. Finally, origami techniques are not applicable to a silicon-based array of processors because the long delay lines formed are not area efficient when complex processing takes place.
