Computer Dealer Exhibition (COMDEX)

What is Computer Dealer Exhibition (COMDEX)?
The Computer Dealer Exhibition (COMDEX) was a major computer fair held in places like Las Vegas from 1979 to the early 2000s. COMDEX initially attracted many major media and corporate sponsorships and was the largest event of its kind in the United States for several years

As a technical convention, COMDEX has been home to many product announcements and releases, as well as demonstrations of the latest technology. So visited Linus Torvalds 1999 the exhibition to talk about the Linux family of operating systems.

COMDEX was founded by members of the Interface Group, including casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, and was sold by Interface Group to a Japanese company in 1995.

The event was even better attended in the 1980s after it was opened to the public, but saw a sharp decline in 2001 when big companies like IBM and Apple moved out. The organizers had previously decided in 1999 to limit large media to the event. The COMDEX event was discontinued within a few years.
