Communication controller

What is communication controller?
A communications controller is a small computer that is used to manage the communication of input / output (I / O) data on a network, host computer, or computer. A communication controller enables user tracking of all network activities and stores all data on a mainframe computer.

Devices - such as bridges, routers, and multiplexers - convert parallel data to serial data for network transmission and perform other network tasks including error control, data compression, proper routing and security parameters.

A communications controller is also known as a front-end processor or a communications processor.

A communications controller is used for several reasons including the following:

Error detection and correction

Data routing across various network devices such as routers and bridges

Buffer to store incoming and outgoing data

Provision of network nodes / terminals for session connections

Manage the flow of data

Create communication links to manage data transfer between different devices and channels
