The Cohesion Fund aims to promote economic and social cohesion between the Member States of the EU. Since 1994, environmental and transport projects have been given financial support. Countries with a per capita income below 90% of the Community average are eligible. Between 2000 and 2006 the Cohesion Fund provided more than 28 billion euros.
