Cloud gaming

What is cloud gaming?
Cloud gaming refers to a game that resides on a corporate server rather than on the player's computer or device. The player enters the game by installing a client program that can access the server on which the games are running. The main benefit of cloud gaming is that the company can upgrade the games without worrying about the capabilities of the users' computers.

The client program that the player installs is usually very light as it does not require a lot of processing power. The player can then choose from the available games within this client and play them on the server. The processing power to run the game is provided by the server, but the speed of the connection can become an issue for the player. Cloud gaming companies typically charge a fee or subscription and operate similarly to online video rental stores.
