What is Castanet?
Castanet ist eine von Marimba Inc. (jetzt BMC Software) entwickelte Unternehmenslösungssoftware, die Netzwerkadministratoren bei der Datenverteilung unterstützt, indem sie Anwendungen über ein Computer network installiert und aktualisiert. Der Inhalt wird mit einem Sender gesteuert, der auf einem Server läuft.

Castanet compares old and new software package versions and sends necessary changes to each client computer.

Castanet uses separate channels (physical network transmission lines or broadcast signals) for each updated or installed application. Each client computer or network user receives the information using a desktop application called a tuner.

Castanet also acts as an expandable software inventory, subscription and reporting package that automates and simplifies the management of enterprise software.
