Binary data

What is binary data?
Binary data is a type of data represented or displayed in the binary number system. Binary data is the only category of data that can be understood and executed directly by a computer. It is represented numerically by a combination of zeros and ones.

Binary data is seen as a computer's native data / language and interacts with the lowest level of abstraction in your hardware. This type of data is generated whenever a process is run on a computer. The application requesting the process sends instructions in a high level language that is eventually converted into binary data that is executed or sent to the processor. All processes, regardless of their type, are converted to binary form before execution.

Most binary data can only be read by a computer, not a human.
