BibTeX

What is BibTeX?
BibTeX is a reference management program that makes it easy for TeX and LaTeX users to create bibliographies for books and journal articles. When possible, it is usually represented in the TeX font such as TeX and LaTeX. LaTeX was first founded in 1985 by Leslie Lamport and Oren Patashnik.

BibTeX is a program for formatting reference lists for academic papers such as books or academic journal articles. Users create lists of information such as the title of a book or article and the publisher, year of publication, and other relevant information using markup language. BibTeX outputs a TeX file which can then be used by a typesetter or output as a Postscript or PDF file. TeX and LaTeX are already used for typesetting by many academic journals.

BibTeX was developed in 1985 by LaTeX authors Leslie Lamport and Oren Patashnik. As with LaTeX, users can create bibliographies without knowing all of the underlying TeX commands.
