Application Link Enabling (ALE)

What is Application link enabling (ALE)?
Application Link Enabling (ALE) is the technical basis for the integration of business processes in a distributed system environment. It handles the exchange of messages via independent R / 3 systems - a comprehensive set of business applications from SAP - or between external systems and R / 3.

With ALE, SAP customers can connect programs across multiple platforms and systems and thus provide a program distribution framework.
The main purpose of ALE is to ensure a distributed but integrated R / 3 installation. It is a business-driven exchange of messages using data via loosely connected SAP applications. These applications are integrated using synchronous and asynchronous communication instead of a central database.

The activation of application links consists of three levels:

- application services
- distribution services
- communication services
