Additional earnings limit

The additional earnings limit describes the amount up to which unemployed people can earn additional earnings without their transfer benefits according to Hartz IV being reduced. Additional earnings limits also apply to those receiving statutory pensions. Additional earnings that exceed these limits lead to a reduction in pension.

For retirees, the additional earnings limit does not apply after reaching the standard retirement age (65th year of age, starting in 2012 gradually increasing to 67th year of age). Exception: the receipt of diets as a member of the Bundestag or MEP in addition to the pension.
