The transport tax is one of the abolished taxes. It was a traffic tax (Transport and excise taxes) on the commercial transport of people and goods by railways and motor vehicles. With different tax rates and tax exemptions for local freight transport, it had traffic-directing goals to a considerable extent. With the reform of the value added tax it was abolished on 1.1.1968. From 1969 to 1971 there was a partial substitute for a road freight tax.
