What is cloud portability?
Cloud portability is the ability of a cloud computing product, cloud solution or cloud service to migrate to a new provider or location without significant port and integration problems.

Cloud-Portabilität ermöglicht es, eine Cloud-Lösung zwischen verschiedenen Anbietern zu wechseln und / oder sie über die interne Cloud infrastructure zu migrieren.

Cloud-Portabilität gilt für alle Servicemodelle des Cloud computing – SaaS, PaaS, IaaS und Hybrid – unabhängig davon, ob sie öffentlich oder privat sind. Die meisten Cloud-Portabilitätsszenarien treten jedoch bei öffentlich-zu-öffentlicher oder öffentlich-privater Cloud-Übertragung auf.

Cloud portability depends on the degree of interoperability that a cloud service or provider offers in its offerings. A cloud solution that is based on non-proprietary and open standards can most easily be transferred between all similar cloud providers or architectures. OpenStack and CloudStack are among the initiatives promoting cloud solutions that are highly interoperable among the supporting vendors.
